In my adolescence, I was an emo kid. Black box dye hair, thick side bangs, Hot Topic regular- the whole thing.
Spending years actively trying to be on the cusp of society and self identifying as an “outsider” taught me to appreciate the importance and comforts of subcultures.
I no longer smudge my eyes with dark purple eye shadow every morning, but I still feel connected with the community of My Chemical Romance fans. While I may not identify as an emo kid today, my love for subcultures and communities remains strong. It has grown into a love for learning and understanding people and their interests.
I channel this into my work for brands by helping them understand and grow their own communities.
